Claudia Hauff
About me
Between 2000 and 2005 I studied for a Diplom degree, equivalent to a Bachelor & Master, in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics at the Otto-von-Guericke University of Magdeburg, Germany (including a semester abroad at the University of Glasgow, UK).
In October 2005, I joined the Human Media Interaction Group of the University of Twente as a PhD student with Franciska de Jong and Djoerd Hiemstra as supervisors. During the first two PhD years, my research focused on concept retrieval; now I am particularly interested in query difficulty, query performance prediction, collection query hardness, system ranking estimation, etc.
Until April 2010 I will be working as a Postdoc at the University of Twente. Afterwards, I am hoping to find a Postdoc position at another institution.
PhD Thesis
At the end of January 2010 the defense of my PhD thesis, entitled Predicting the Effectiveness of Queries and Retrieval Systems [abstract] [pdf], took place.
