POMDP Toolkit

This website contains a toolkit for the development of dialogue systems using POMDPs. The toolkit makes use of the specification formats of Tony Cassandra. We have designed a more concise format using regular expressions. The toolkit includes a parser for specification files, an interactive simulator, and a performance simulator.

Requirements

Java SDK or Java Runtime Environment, version 5.0 or higher

A POMDP solver such as ZMDP or Perseus.

Usage

When you extract the ZIP file, you will get two JAR files containing the parser and simulators. Example specifications are included as well. Here are the general steps to take from specification to simulation:

• Specify the problem in a dialogue POMDP specification. Examples are included with this toolkit.
• Parse the specification file to generate a canonical POMDP file in Tony Cassandra’s format.
• Run a POMDP solver.
• Load the POMDP specification file and solution file into a simulator.
