and their constants of nature:

- The speed of light in vacuo c0 = 299 792 458 m s-1.
- Planck's constant h = 6.626 068 76(32) 10-34 J s.
- The Bohr radius a0 = 0.529 177 2083(19) 10-10 m.

the discussion about the foundations of Quantum Mechanics between the adherents of Albert Einstein and Niels Bohr has not yet come to an end. At present, as the tide swings, Einstein's views are on the winning hand.

And two forerunners from Holland

Christiaan Huygens Hendrik Antoon Lorentz - Huygens was the "Primus inter Pares" of the newly founded "Académie Française" in Paris. Here he wrote his famous "Traité de la Lumière, to be published, much later, in 1690.
- Lorentz name lives on in the equally famous space-time transformations of Einstein's special relativity and in the Fitzgerald-Lorentz contraction
Bose-Einstein Condensation A new quantum fase created more than 70 years after its prediction. Read about it and view the animations and the Einstein's legacy applets on the Physics 2000 site.
