General overviews
- 15-minute micro-tutorial on design science methodology. Presentation at the Doctoral Symposia and Empire workshop at the RE 13 conference, at REFSQ in several years, and at CAiSE 2015. Focus on distinction beteeen design problems and knowledge questions; design cycle to solve design problems.
- Design Science Methodology.90-minute or 180-minute tutorial given at various conferences and universities. Highlights of chapters 1-11.
- Design Science Methodology.60-minute overview of the book given at the University of Vienna, 11 October 2017.
- 6-hour PhD course given yearly for PhD students at the Netherlands School for Information and Knowledge Systems (SIKS). An earlier version has been given at the IFI summer school at the University of Zuerich. Treats chapters 1-11 except 4, 5, and 6. The course focusses on formulating research qoals, questions, theories and research design.
- 6-hour version of the Master course given yearly at the Sorbonne, restricting itself to the design cycle (chapters 1-7). Same slides in handout form: here.
- 16-hour course for master students, with exam questions and practicum assignments. In the course I treat chapters 1-11 of my book on design science.
Special topics
- Reseach method illustrations. Presents applications of my checklist for research design & reporting to observational case studies, case-based experiments (single-case and multiple-case) and technical action research.
- Developing theories in design science. A full-day seminar about design theories, scientific inference and the design and validity of research setups to support those inferences. Writing a report about design research is a 9-page document intended for Master's students and PhD students in software engineering, requirements engineering, and information systems engineering, to help them structure their thesis.
