STW project gets approved under the Smart Energy Systems call

The STW project iCARE (PersonalIsed Climate and Ambience contRol for zero-Energy buildings) project is accepted. It takes a multi-pronged approach in order to create a zero-energy building (ZEB) by addressing both energy harvesting and reduction of energy consumption.

Two COMMIT proposals of the Pervasive Systems are accepted. One of proposal is about Sensor Networks for Public Safety, led by PS. The other proposal is about User Centric Reasoning for Well-working, in which PS participates.

Pervasive Systems is ISSNIP 2010

Pervasive Systems group members were present in the Sixth International Conference on Intelligent Sensors, Sensor Networks and Information Processing (ISSNIP) 2010 by four papers on routing, localizations, and adaptive sampling. ISSNIP conference was held from 7 till 10 December in Brisbane, Australia.
Paul Havinga also gave an invited talk about underwater wireless sensor networks.

ON 26 Septermber, Arta Dilo gave a talk in lustrum symposium on "Natural Hazards" organized by GeoVUsie, Earth Sciences student association of the Vrije Universiteit. The title of her talk was "Importance and use of geo-information in emergency response operations".
