Organizing MobiSense Workshop in Conjunction with Mobilight 2011 Conference 
Nirvana Meratnia and Paul Havinga from PS group together with Desislava Dimitrova from University of Bern, Switzerland and Hans van den Berg from TNO in The Netherlands organized the 1st International Workshop on Opportunistic Sensing and Processing in Mobile Wireless Sensor and Cellular networks. The workshop was held in conjunction with the MobiLight 2011 Conference on 10 May.

Keynote speech in Mobilight 2011 Conference by Paul Havinga  
On 9 May 2011, Paul Havinga gave a keynote speech entitled "Flocks of phones: a next opportunity for wireless sensing" in the Mobilight 2011 Conference held in Bilbao Spain.

Pervasive Systems in REALWIN 2011 workshop 
The Real-Time Wireless for Industrial Applications (REALWIN) workshop was held on 11 April 2011. PS participated in this workshop through a paper entitled "D-SAR: A Distributed Scheduling Algorithm
for Real-time, Closed-Loop Control in Industrial
Wireless Sensor and Actuator Networks" by Pouria Zand, Supriyo Chatterjea, Jeroen Ketema and Paul Havinga.

SeaSTAR project in STW Sense of Contact conference 
During the STW Sense of Contact conference organized by STW, Wouter van Kleunen presented a poster about his work in the SeaSTAR project. His work concerns communication scheduling in underwater acoustic sensor networks.

Work visit of the Prime Minister 
On 6 April, Prime minister Mark Rutte paid a work visit to University of Twente. As part of the program, Paul Havinga, head of the Pervaisve Systems research group and the founder of Ambient Systems B.V., presented knowledge transfer skills and experience of the Computer Science department of the University of Twente.
